Terms of Use

Mind's Ear is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, the standard terms for apps on the App Store. Here's what that means for this app, and its subscription.

Last updated 2 November 2026

The app

You can download Mind's Ear free, and use it for as long as you like: to read any book, to keep a library, and to hear the four books it comes with read aloud.

The subscription

  • Mind's Ear Annual reads aloud the books you add to the app. It costs $14.99 a year (US price; the App Store shows the price in your country before you subscribe).
  • New subscribers can have a 7-Days Free Trial, once per Apple Account. If you don't cancel during the trial, the subscription starts when it ends.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, or when the free trial ends.
  • The subscription renews automatically each year, and your account is charged for the next year within the 24 hours before the current one ends, unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before then.
  • You can manage or cancel it at any time in Settings › your name › Subscriptions, or from About in the app. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep the subscription until the end of the year you've paid for.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Your books

You're responsible for having the right to read the books you add. The four books the app comes with are in the public domain in the United States, from Project Gutenberg.

The voices

The voices are made by a speech model on your device. They're for listening to your books yourself; the app doesn't save or export what they say.

Everything else

Apple's standard licence covers the rest: the licence to use the app, warranties, liability, and the law that governs it. Where this page and that licence differ, the licence applies.
